The Australian macadamia industry has maintained a strong record of compliance under the Australian Government’s National Residue Survey (NRS), achieving an overall compliance rate of 98.7% in 2024–25.
The survey analysed 159 macadamia samples collected from processing plants across northern New South Wales and Queensland. Samples were tested for a range of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and environmental contaminants, with results assessed against Australian and relevant international standards.
According to the report, “Australian macadamia producers continue to demonstrate a high degree of good agricultural practice.” The residue monitoring program is a long-standing cooperative effort between the NRS, the Australian Macadamia Society and macadamia handlers and processors, providing independent verification that Australian macadamias meet stringent safety and quality standards.
